Want to Write for Us?

We are always looking for writers who can write good original quality post on UNIMAS Bloggers.

We are going to be serious next semester and we need writers to cover all those events, dinners, seminars or even conferences at UNIMAS.

Or having any problems with UNIMAS? Your voice has power! Speak up and write for us!

Rules & Guidelines

Unfortunately, there are always rules.

The rules are in place to ensure that the quality of posts and integrity of the site remains high.

  • The post/article should not be reproduced anywhere else on the web including your own blog (neither party benefits from duplicate content)
  • Any images used in the post cannot mess up the design of the site. As a guideline, the max width of any picture you post should not exceed 550 pixels.
  • It is ok to link to your own blog if it is relevant to do so (eg. referring a coding example or whatnot). However, you should not write articles around topics to justify a link to your blog and you should not actively encourage visitors to visit your blog.
  • Remember, you get a link to your blog at the top and bottom of your posts plus a link on your author page which is also linked to at the top and bottom of every post and the links are clearly marked so that your site gets exposure.
  • No affiliate codes or referral links are allowed in posts.

Writing

  • We encourage you to write in your own writing style.
  • Your posts can be about whatever you want, but they should seem like they could have been written by one of our writers (but without all the typos and gross inaccuracies).
  • Your post must be in English.

Want to apply? Read on.

Here's what you need to send us:

About You

  • A few words about yourself.
  • Your contact info.
  • Any other questions you may have about the gig.

What not to do

  • Don't just send us stuff you wrote elsewhere, we're not asking for clips.
  • Don't send attachments or resumes.

You don't have to have any experience or qualifications to write for us – all we ask is some enthusiasm and plenty of ideas. You don't even have to commit to any regular contributions. The ability to string a sentence together would be helpful, though.

And we don't want to just dish out orders for what to write. We want your own ideas so you can write about whatever you like – news, sport, ents, features, etc... if we like it and it's vaguely relevant, it's in. If it's no good or it's not for us, we'll tell you why not and, where appropriate, suggest how it could be improved.

Think you've got what it takes? Email us at unimasbloggers[at]gmail[dot]com with the words "writers" in the title. We'd love to hear from you.

Happy Holiday!

We wish you all Happy Holiday. Have a nice trip back home. For those who are graduating this semester, we pray for your success in your future career, families, business, whatever. Sir Pok Deng will be wandering around in the campus for another two semesters. Same thing goes to the big boss of Unimas Bloggers, Mr. Ducknezz. If anyone of you spot these guys gone astray around Tasik Unimas (you know, like those stray dogs), do give them a pat to the shoulder (pretty ladies are more preferable). Treat them at the nearest cafe, have a nice chat until late evening.

Regards,
Administrator

Simple Tips On 'Good Writing'

We've been reading through all blogs registered in Unimas Bloggers and we have already spotted a few major weaknesses among the authors in writing their everyday posts. Regardless of what language you are using, most of you did not acquire a 'good writing' category.

You don't have to be a professional writer to write a good blog. If you are, well, that's good for you! All you need is just common sense - the sense of knowing what readers need from your blog. Some people may say "I blog for my own satisfaction so I don't have to be strict in this kind of thing. Furthermore, who cares? Everything happens for a reason right?".

Unless you're made from stone, you might notice that you're living in your own world as if you're surrounded by a huge bubble. Why having a blog when personal satisfaction controls everything that even a monkey would smirk when reading yours? Well, I thought Everrise is a good place for you to hang out for a while and get a hard-covered notebook to be used as your personal diary. It looks good with black fountain pen. Kedak manuskrip Inggeris lamak nak?

So here are some tips on my so called 'good writing':
(1) Avoid using words that are ruined by the evolution of text messages. For examples, "Kmk ngga ktk xda lah kck glk. Haha!" or "Is dat smthg we kol 'evolution'?" You should know how to differentiate between a blog and a mobile phone.

(2) Avoid pliagiarism. This is strictly prohibited even in blogsphere. Please do your own writing instead of copying others' like "Ciri-ciri Muslimah Sejati" or "Lelaki Bertakwa", just to name a few. Some of you tend to post the entire article in your blog without leaving any credits to the respective parties. It is recommended if you're posting an excerpt of the article while putting the source URL below the excerpt for further reads by the visitors.

(3) Please avoid posting cliches. Readers don't want to read your everyday things like: "Hari ini saya bangun pukul 5.00 pagi kerana menyiapkan assignment. Oh saya amat penat. Saya singgah di kafe Pohon Mas untuk minum bersama kekasih saya. Bermula kuliah pada pukul 8.00 pagi. Tak suka lecturer tu!!! Habis kuliah pukul 10.00 pagi. Saya mengantuk jadi saya balik ke kolej untuk tidur. Mesej 'sayang' sekejap ucap 'I love you'. Dia kasi flying kiss kat saya. Saya happppy!!!"

Instead, you can spice up your posts like (taken from the example above as a template): "Jam menunjukkan pukul 5.00 pagi pada ketika saya terjaga daripada tidur demi menyiapkan assignment. Jauh betul saya mengelamun, baik saya terus menyambung kerja saya. ..." How about that?

(4) If you're posting in English, please avoid Manglish or Singlish. "Oh. My doggie dun wan 2 eat lo. Why ah?? Tomolo I'll back in Unimas oledi." Manglish/Singlish is just for everyday communication. Please do not use in writing.

(5) Avoid using too much capital letters; "WHADDAHELL ARE YOU SHOUTING LIKE A FISHMONGER CAN YOU SEE I'M RIGHT HERE??????????"

(6) Exclamation mark is used to emphasize certain points in the writing as if you're raising up your voice. Please don't write too much. Three is enough. "OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Well that's all folks. A few tips on 'good writing'. Any takers?
